Properties : Sodium lauryl Sulphate is a very effective chemical. It is an alkyl sulphate . It  is a coconut-based surfactant, mainly prepared by its extraction from coconut oil coz its very rich in a fatty acid called lauric acid .  It is  strong and  harsh  in nature , used mainly as a  powerful wetting , cleaning ,whipping  and foaming agent .It finds its major application in shampoos,  body washes , bubble baths , hair conditioners, toothpaste and pharmaceuticals .In cleaning products it  allows oils and grease to be washed off by water ,while in other products it helps in maintaining its stability . It also involves itself widely  in  cosmetics industry today . Chemically it helps in increasing the absorption of certain chemicals  . It is also used as concrete floor cleaner, engine degreasers and car wash detergent . The food industry used it as an emulsifier agent .
