Sodium Hexameta Phosphate
Physical And Chemcial Properties : Sodium hexametaphosphates is a mixture of many polymeric metaphosphates binded together . It is prepared by melting monosodium orthophosphate and is then cooled rapidly. Sodium hexametaphosphate is sometimes added to sodium carbonate which helps in raising its PH value . It breaks down to sodium trimetaphosphate and sodium orthophosphate under acidic condition in aqueous solution .
Synonyms : Hexametaphosphate , sodium salt ,metaphosphoric acid , hexasodium salt , sodium polyphosphate.

Uses : Sodium hexametaphosphate is used as a PH adjustive agent and in fermenting of meat to prevent its fat from getting rotten . It is also used in beer to retain its clearness. Indeed this product is blessed with the power to increase the food nutrition ,without giving any harm to its natural colour,and thus act as an effective agent to improve the quality of the food .It act as an whitening agent in and is so preffered by many toothpaste manufacturers . Not very much in use , but sodium hexametaphosphate is rarely used in making of terrasigillate , a type of ceramic technique . It is too used as a sequestrant , as a food aditive and as a dispersing agent. It may be harmful if swallowed and so should be handeled carefully.
